Cookie Policy
Last updated: August 2026
This page explains which cookies and similar technologies are used when you visit Savingtags, what each one does, and how to get rid of them. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers how we handle information more generally.
What Cookies Are
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep, so that something can be remembered between page views — a preference, or the fact that this visit is a continuation of the last one. Similar technologies such as local storage do the same job and are covered here too.
Cookies We Set Ourselves
For an ordinary visitor, Savingtags sets no cookies of its own. There is no account to log in to, no basket and no checkout, so there is nothing for us to remember about you between visits. The only things stored in your browser by this site are:
| Name | Type | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
| theme | Local storage | Remembers whether you chose the light or dark appearance, so the site does not revert every time you open it. Not a cookie, never sent to our servers, and set only if you use the theme switch. | Until you clear your browser storage |
| st_admin | Cookie | Signs in the site’s own administrators to the content tools. It is issued only after a successful password entry on an internal page. Visitors never receive it. | 30 days |
Analytics Cookies
We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and understand which parts of the catalogue are useful — which pages are read, which searches come up empty, where the site is slow. It sets the following cookies:
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Typical lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes one browser from another so visits are not double-counted | 2 years |
| _ga_<property> | Google Analytics | Keeps session state for this specific property | 2 years |
These carry no name or email address — we do not hold either — and we read the results in aggregate rather than using them to identify anyone. You can opt out of Google Analytics across every site at once using Google’s browser add-on, or block the cookies as described below.
Cookies Set When You Click Through to a Retailer
When you follow a price link, you pass through an affiliate network — CJ Affiliate or Rakuten Advertising— on the way to the retailer. The network sets a cookie recording that the referral came from us, so that a resulting purchase can be credited to Savingtags.
That happens on their domain, under their own cookie and privacy policies, from the moment you leave this site. It is what keeps Savingtags free to use, and it never changes the price you pay. We do not receive your identity or your order details from it — only aggregate confirmation that a referred sale occurred.
Once you are on the retailer’s site, their own cookies apply as well. We have no control over those, and you should read their cookie policy if you want the detail.
What We Do Not Use
- No advertising cookies or advertising pixels — we sell no ad space.
- No social-media tracking widgets.
- No cross-site profiling, and no sale or sharing of personal information.
How to Control Cookies
- Browser settings. Every major browser can block or delete cookies, for all sites or for one. Look for Privacy or Site settings.
- Private browsing. Cookies and local storage created in a private window are discarded when you close it.
- Google Analytics opt-out. Google publishes a browser add-on that stops its analytics on every site you visit.
- Tracker blockers. A content blocker will stop the analytics tag loading here at all.
Blocking every cookie described on this page leaves Savingtags fully usable — search, price comparison and outbound links all work without one. The only visible effect is that the site will not remember your light or dark preference, and that a purchase you make will not be credited to us.
Changes to This Policy
We will update this page whenever the set of cookies changes, and the date at the top shows when it last did.
